Grand Slam Sauvignon Blanc 2021

Grand Slam Sauvignon Blanc 2021

Our newest vintage of the Grand Slam Sauvignon blanc has an aromatic nose of fresh tropical fruit, tangerine, and peach. Medium-bodied with the fruit from the nose continuing on the palate. A short, clean finish. Refreshing.

Vineyards

Majority of the grapes are sourced from vineyards on north and south-east facing back slopes of the Tygerberg hills which are typical of the prime viticultural land that characterizes the maritime Durbanville wine ware influenced by the cold Atlantic Ocean just six miles away. Cooled in summer by moisture-laden, seasonal coastal mists and south-eastern breezes, these hills benefit from a typically Mediterranean climate with generous rainfall during frost-free winters and dry, warm summers. Deep and well-drained soils capture and retain water well into the summer, creating just the right balance between moisture and stress for the vine to naturally produce healthy and flavorful fruit.

Winemaking

The wines are handcrafted from start to finish. Grapes are hand picked and bunches and berries undergo a second sorting, also by hand, at the cellar. White grapes are processed in an inert nitrogen press to minimize oxidation, fermented in separate batches in small stainless steel tanks to capture a range of aromas and flavor characteristics. Lastly, the wine is blended to achieve the winemakers' vision of perfect balance.

Tastingnote

Crisp, bold, and refreshing, Sauvignon Blanc is one of the most versatile white wines available. This Sauvignon Blanc has a straw-colored hew and imparts a wide spectrum of flavors, from green pepper to green figs, passion fruit and guava. Tropical fruit dominates on the palate. Perfectly paired with a number of dishes, from salads to seafood and from peas to pavlovas.
